Hope - Apocalyptica - Cult (CD, Album)

So why three stars? Because I'm being hard on them. Really, this is a fine album. I would give Cult two stars and call it "pretty good", were it not for some astounding pieces. In Memoriam, Hyperventilation, Kaamos, and Coma are among the finest Apocalyptica pieces, and easily raise the /5(31).

Originally released in 20respectively, Cult and Reflections were landmark albums for Apocalyptica, showing off their compositional skills as they incorporated original material into their blend of Metallica covers, classical reinterpretations, and stunning cello acrobatics/5(94).

This album only has 2 Metallica covers anyway, which along with the expertly rendered Hall of the Mountain King represent the only non-original music on the album. Apocalyptica has firmly stepped up to stand on its own merits with this album and I impatiently await their next release, which I hope /5(31).
